A total of 2,800 dead pigs have been fished out from a river upstream from Shanghai. Authorities of Shanghai municipality stated on Tuesday that 2,800 pig carcasses were fished out from Huangpu River in Shanghai as of Sunday evening. It was added, some of the pig carcasses were coming from Jiaxing in the neighbouring province of Zhejiang. The Huangpu River is the major drinking water supplier of Shanghai. It was stated earlier that a virus was found in the river which caused the death of pigs however authorities said, the water quality in the city had not been affected. Furthermore, statement from the agriculture department of Zhejiang said there were no signs of an epidemic in Jiaxing.
