KIEV, Ukraine (AA) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has claimed a Russian military convoy was destroyed by Ukrainian government forces after crossing the border. According to a statement from the president’s office, Poroshenko discussed the alleged incursion with British Prime Minister David Cameron in a telephone call. Poroshenko said the column crossed the border close to the route of an aid convoy sent from Russia, close to the Izvarino crossing. The Kiev government said Cameron voiced Britain’s support for Ukraine in its conflict with separatist rebels and said it is ready to provide financial aid to Ukraine under the United Nations’ humanitarian aid program. Russia denied the claims. In a written statement, the Russian Federal Security Service said: "Reports of Russian military vehicles crossing the Ukrainian border near the route of the humanitarian aid convoy do not represent the reality."
