Turkish FM said: "EU General Affairs Council decided to open chapter 22 in accession talks with Turkey, any postponement is out of question" Speaking on the issue, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu emphasized the need to remain committed to the opening of the new chapter. Indicating that the new chapter had been opened permanently and that a later date for appointments would be set, Davutoglu defended that Turkey constituted importance for the EU. Minister Davutoglu said, "The 22nd chapter has been opened for us. The issue is closed. After this, we will undertake efforts for the opening of chapters 23 and 24.The issue should not be taken out of context.” He said, "l do not see any obstacle before opening of Chapter 22. l want to see positive result regarding negotiation process with EU on opening of talks on 'Regional Policy'"
