Ceyda Tanc Dance performed at Place Theater in London

Ceyda Tanc Dance performed at Place Theater in London. Last Friday, Ceyda Tanc Dance have created two dance works 'Kartal' and 'Volta'. The Performance was 'Sold Out' at the night. It was a very succesfull event.

Ceyda grew up in Brighton and began dancing at a young age. During high school she joined Coalition Dance Company where she was first introduced to contemporary dance. She continued her training at Roehampton University, graduating in July 2011 with a BA (Hons) in Dance Studies. 

After graduating, Ceyda was invited to spend four months at The State Turkish Conservatoire for Music and Dance in Izmir, Turkey. She trained in traditional Turkish folk dance including Zeybek and Denizli, the dance styles of her heritage. Whilst in Izmir, Ceyda taught contemporary dance workshops to degree students, youth companies and also a company of professional dance teachers. 

Since returning to the UK, Ceyda has founded Ceyda Tanc Dance in April 2012. She has recently started teaching Turkish folk dance workshops in the UK and will continue this, to enable dancers to learn a new dance form, as well as her company repertoire. Ceyda also has her own youth dance company in Brighton for 14-19 year old dancers. Ceyda Tanc Dance is an emerging contemporary dance company led by Artistic Director and Choreographer, Ceyda Tanc. The company focuses on creating cutting edge and dynamic contemporary dance works, with influence of traditional Turkish folk dance. Ceyda Tanc combines the knowledge gained during her contemporary dance training with the dance style of her heritage to create a unique movement vocabulary. 

Ceyda Tanc Dance have created two dance works 'Kartal' and 'Volta'. The company have toured around the UK including Wales, Brighton, Birmingham and London, plus many other venues. Their latest work 'Volta' is influenced by Zeybek and Kafkas dance as well as contemporary dance. 

Dancers: Georgia Godfrey, Hayley Ovens, Gemma Shrubb, Chloe Mead, Amba Potter, Kimberley Collins and Chloe Bishop.
