Important Travel Updates: London Underground and DLR Strike Action

If you're travelling this weekend, there are lots of ways to get where you need to go but be aware there is planned strike action on the Tube and DLR. The information in this email could change, so please check before you travel or use the free  TfL Go app to plan your journey.

Tube and DLR strike action

Due to planned strike action, disruption is expected on the London Underground between Sunday 7 and Thursday 11 September.

If these strikes go ahead, the impact of this strike action is as follows:

Sunday 7 September - disruption across the Tube network with limited services running. Tube journeys to be completed by 18:00

Monday 8 until Thursday 11 September - little or no service expected across London Underground. Any services that do run will start later than usual, with no service before 08:00. Any journeys should be completed by 18:00

Tuesday 9 and Thursday 11 September - no service expected on the DLR

Friday 12 September - no service before 08:00, with a good service on all lines expected by late morning

Other services, including the Elizabeth line, London Overground, London buses and trams, will be operating but are likely to be extremely busy. These services may be unable to stop at all stations or run to their normal destinations due to Tube station closures.

Some bus routes in west London may be disrupted on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 September due to strike action.

If you need to travel, plan ahead, allow more time for your journey and check before you travel on our website or by using the TfL Go app . You can sign up for notifications in TfL Go to get alerts for major disruptions to travel.

For more information on these strikes, visit our strikes webpage.

Government Emergency Alerts system test

At 15:00 on Sunday 7 September, the UK government is testing the Emergency Alerts system. Compatible mobile phones will receive an alert, make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate. You will not need to take any action.

The Emergency Alerts system is used to warn if there's a danger to life nearby, including extreme weather. Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it need to be used in a life-threatening emergency.

Gallows Corner

Gallows Corner junction remains closed to all vehicle traffic, with only emergency vehicles, black cabs and TfL buses able to use the junction while works to renew and strengthen the ageing flyover continue.

Roads in the local area to Gallows Corner junction and wider vicinity are expected to be very busy. Disruption to vehicle journeys should be expected for the duration of the closure.

For local journeys through the area, consider taking the bus rather than your private vehicle for a more direct journey to your destination

For longer distance journeys that are non-stopping in the Gallows Corner area, use the M25 for the M11 or A13 to complete your journey

For any journey during the closure, leave more time for your journey and where possible, travel outside of peak times

Always plan ahead and check before you travel

For more information and travel advice, see our website. For more information, including project progress updates, visit the Gallows Corner project webpage.
