The Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has said that light has been seen at the end of the Syrian tunnel. Speaking to NTV, the Turkish foreign minister has said that significant steps towards peace have been taken recently. In an interview he said: ‘The US and Russia are placing the bill to destroy chemical weapons in Syria above all. The bill does not ignore the war crimes already committed. It also includes the political process. We wanted a different bill for the humanitarian issues, for which there is support. At the second Geneva conference it was agreed that Bashar al-Assad should not have any role in a future deal. We can now see light at the end of the tunnel. We cannot allow the Syrian people to continue suffering.’ When asked about the improving relationship between the US and Iran, he said ‘as Turkey we look at this in a positive light.’
