BRINGING TURKISH STUDENTS TOGETHER IN LONDON

As President of the Turkish Society at City University of London, Güneş leads a student community dedicated to bringing young people together through cultural, social and professional activities.

The society aims to create a supportive environment where Turkish students can celebrate their heritage, develop meaningful friendships and establish valuable connections for their future careers.

“Our aim is to bring Turkish students together and strengthen our community here in the UK through cultural, social and professional events,” Güneş said.

CELEBRATING 103 YEARS OF THE TURKISH REPUBLIC

Highlighting the spirit of collaboration among Turkish students across London, Güneş spoke about the recent celebration of the 103rd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye.

The event brought together Turkish student societies from City University of London, Queen Mary University of London, the University of Greenwich and the University of the Arts London.

The joint celebration demonstrated the strong sense of national pride, friendship and solidarity shared by Turkish students studying at different universities across the capital.

CREATING CAREER AND MENTORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Looking ahead, Güneş outlined an ambitious vision for the society, with a particular focus on expanding cooperation between universities and connecting students with established professionals across the UK.

“This year, we are focusing on expanding university collaborations, creating mentorship and career opportunities, and connecting Turkish students with professionals across the UK,” she explained.

These initiatives aim to help students build professional networks, gain valuable career insights and develop the skills needed to succeed in an increasingly international environment.

“OUR GENERATION HAS AN IMPORTANT ROLE TO PLAY”

Güneş also highlighted the responsibility of young Turkish people living and studying abroad to maintain their cultural identity while contributing positively to the societies in which they live.

“We believe that our generation has an important role to play in building bridges between Türkiye and the United Kingdom, while proudly preserving our cultural identity,” she said.

Her message reflects the aspirations of a new generation of Turkish students who see themselves not only as future professionals but also as cultural ambassadors connecting two countries.
