Fethiye Launches International Digital Tourism Campaign with UK-Based Publisher

FETHIYE, MUĞLA – In a significant move to boost its international tourism profile, the Fethiye Municipality has partnered with Kingfisher Publishing, a leading UK and Ireland-based tourism guide publisher, to promote the region on digital platforms. Ian David Heads, owner of Kingfisher Publishing, visited Fethiye Mayor Alim Karaca this week to present details of the collaboration. The initiative marks the first time Fethiye is being featured by the publisher, which has produced digital and print guides for over 70 destinations since 2006.

The Fethiye Municipality confirmed the partnership in a statement, noting that the city will be the first of seven Turkish destinations to be featured in a new series of guides aimed at British and Irish tourists. The guides will be distributed in both print and digital formats, with a particular focus on high-end hotels and luxury accommodations. Visitors will also have access to detailed information via QR code cards, which link directly to the digital guides.
“This partnership aligns with our strategy to enhance Fethiye’s global visibility,” the municipality stated. “We aim to highlight the region’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and historical heritage, while also working toward our goal of extending the tourism season to a full 12 months.”

Mayor Alim Karaca emphasized the growing importance of digital media in international outreach. “We are now living in a digital age,” Karaca said. “From television to education, everything is moving online. As Fethiye Municipality, we are committed to leveraging digital platforms to promote our city on the global stage.”

During the meeting with Kingfisher Publishing, Mayor Karaca was joined by his chief advisor, retired diplomat Yavuz Topateş, and Bülent Uysal, Chairman of the Fethiye Hoteliers Association. The collaboration is expected to bring a fresh wave of international attention to Fethiye, further strengthening its status as one of Turkey’s premier travel destinations.
