Egyptian Minister of Antiquities Mohammed Ibrahim has announced that 14 new sculptures belonging to warrior goddess as well as goddess of healing Sekhmet have been found in Luxor. In a written statement on Tuesday, Ibrahim said, "14 new sculptures belonging to goddess Sekhmet have been found in Egypt's southern province of Luxor by a German archeology crew who are digging for the remains of Amenhotep III." Ibrahim said that the sculptures had been removed to a safe place for restoration. "Some archeologists declared that Amenhotep III had had sculptures of warrior goddess as well as goddess of healing Sekhmet made to recover from his illnesses," Ibrahim stated. Mansur Berik, an official with the Luxor museum, said, "The sculptures impersonate Sekhmet as human-animal hybrid. He is depicted as sitting in mid-sky with his lion head on human body." The German archeology crew have recently excavated 64 historical artifacts in that area.
