Super Lig: Goztepe beat Besiktas at new stadium

Goztepe beat Besiktas 2-1 Sunday in a Turkish Super Lig match held at the Izmir club's newly built Gursel Aksel Stadium. Goztepe’s Turkish midfielder Halil Akbunar put the ball into Besiktas’ net in the 25th minute for the first goal. Besiktas equalized in the 38th minute as Turkish forward Burak Yilmaz successfully converted a penalty.

In the first half's injury time, Costa Rican midfielder Celso Borges scored the winning goal for Goztepe.

Goztepe are now in eighth place in the league standings with 29 points.

Besiktas are going through a rough patch this season, having recently sacked their head coach Abdullah Avci over poor results.

The Black Eagles have only managed to earn one win in their last five league matches and are in seventh spot with 30 points.

Sunday's results:

Yukatel Denizlispor - Antalyaspor: 0-3

Goztepe - Besiktas: 2-1

Ittifak Holding Konyaspor - Galatasaray: 0-3
