Man arrested for removing Turkish flag

Omer M, 34, was detained for taking down a Turkish flag from a police station last month in Turkey’s southeast The incident which took place on June 10 followed the funerals of two protestors who were killed during an illegal protest against the construction of a military outpost in the southeastern Lice district of Diyarbakir. Diyarbakir Police Department arrested the man and official proceedings are continuing. On June 7, the two protestors died after security forces intervened in a demonstration held by a pro-Kurdish group who attempted to block the road between Diyarbakir and Bingol provinces at the weekend, hurling hand-made grenades and stones at security forces.
