LONDON-The UK Government has announced the appointment of Jennifer Elizabeth Anderson CMG as His Majesty's Ambassador to the Republic of Türkiye.Ms Anderson will succeed Jill Morris CMG and is expected to take up her post in August 2026. A seasoned diplomat with previous experience in Türkiye, Anderson served as Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Ankara between 2017 and 2020. She also completed Turkish language training before taking up that assignment. Most recently, Anderson served as Director of Consular and Crisis at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) from 2020 to 2024.
During her diplomatic career, she has held several senior positions, including UK High Commissioner to Botswana and UK Representative to the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Deputy Head of Mission in Jakarta, and political and security-related roles in Brussels and London.
Her appointment is expected to provide continuity in UK–Türkiye relations, building on her previous diplomatic experience and familiarity with the country.
