This momentous event will also mark the recent International Women’s Day and highlight the meaning of being away from one’s country of origin, for the women from ‘the Islington Turkish, Kurdish and Cypriot Group’. ITKCG is an award winning women’s group in Islington, which provides services for women since 1987. It is led by Ms. Gül Koçak and in collaboration with SUNCUT for undertaking the research on ‘GURBET’.
This is an important juncture in the political, social and economic landscape of London and indeed the world, and this is a fitting tribute to raise the issues that matter to diverse London communities.
We will be joined at the opening by Deputy Mayor of Islington Councillor Theresa Debono and the General Consul of Turkey in London Mr. Emirhan Yorulmazlar and other distinguished guests along with invited guests from across London. We also have confirmation from the local Member of Parliament the Honourable Jeremy Corbyn MP and other local politicians and dignitaries at this event.
