British Media Lands in Istanbul as Turkey’s $2 Billion Health Tourism Industry Draws Global Attention

A high-profile British media delegation has arrived in Istanbul, marking a strategic moment for Turkey’s rapidly expanding health tourism sector.

A.Times / Istanbul — A high-profile British media delegation arrived in Istanbul last weekend, marking a strategic moment for Turkey’s rapidly expanding health tourism sector. Journalists from Manchester, Liverpool and London—including contributors to Forbes and England times—touched down at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport as part of an exclusive press trip exploring medical innovation, longevity, and wellness.

Hosted by Esteworld Health Group, the visit followed the group’s London expansion and signaled a deepening UK–Turkey connection in global healthcare.

Turkey welcomed over 1.5 million international patients annually and generated more than $2 billion in revenue, driven in large part by demand from the UK for hair transplants, dental procedures, aesthetic surgery, and preventative wellness.

The delegation toured advanced clinical facilities across Istanbul before travelling to Şile to experience next-generation longevity concepts at Wellworld, reflecting a global shift from treatment to proactive health and lifestyle optimisation.

The programme concluded over the weekend, and the delegation has since returned to London.

A.Times will be sharing the full journey as a day-by-day series, starting with the delegation’s arrival in Istanbul.
