Alessandro Georgiou has been elected as the new leader of Enfield Council during the authority’s Annual Council Meeting held in London, one of the areas with a large Turkish-speaking community.
At the meeting, Michael Rye was also appointed Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration.
Following his appointment, Georgiou announced the members of his new cabinet and their responsibilities. Chris Dey will oversee Children’s Services, while Edward Smith takes responsibility for Council Assets and Culture, and Maria Alexandrou will lead on Environment.
The cabinet also includes James Hockney for Finance, Andy Milne for Adult Social Care Services, Lee Chamberlain for Housing and Technology, Elisa Morreale for Licensing, and Andrew Thorp for Communications and Customer Services.
The new administration is expected to shape Enfield’s local policies in the coming period, particularly in housing, environment, financial management, and social services.
