Pro-democracy opposition groups in Syria aim to join forces under a new designation, "Union of Syrian Democrats," for which the first meeting will be organized by Syrian National Coalition (SNC) on Sept. 28-29 in Istanbul.
One of the prominent supporters of the meeting, SNC political committee member Michel Kilo, said the main objective of the conference was to unify the democratic movements within the Syria opposition which believed in the civil state under one vision and to resolve existing disputes.
Kilo said the Union would open offices all around Syria, and offer material and financial aid to the Syrian people.
