Kyrgyzstan opposition holds rally

Kyrgyzstan opposition groups gathered at the "Teltoru" hippodrome square in Jalalabat in southwestern Krgyhzistan. The opposition groups within the country gathered together at a rally which was watched by thousands of citizens. During the "People's Voice" movement which brought together the opposition, speeches were made pressuring the government. Suggesting that the country’s new administration had not brought about any changes, the opposition leaders demanded that their requests be met by April 7. Otherwise the opposition announced that a comprehensive march of the people would be conducted. During the rally, speeches were made on a variety of topics, such as the two previous people’s revolutions and their results, the management of the Kumtor gold mine and its benefit to the state, constitutional reform, border problems and environmental pollution. During the opposition rally in which harsh accusations were directed at the government, it was expressed that “there is no need for a third revolution, but our demands are serious."

It was noted that the main opposition party Ata-Jurt was present at the rally along with other opposition groups which do not have seats in parliament.
