Assad spends 25 billion dollars on civil war

Syrian interim government Finance and Economy Minister Ibrahim Miro said on Saturday that the Assad regime has spent 25 billion dollars on the civil war ongoing in the country for three years.  Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Miro said "Assad regime spent 7 billion dollars of Syrian Central Bank dollars reserves in 2011 and 9 billion dollars in 2012 and approximately 9 billion dollars in 2013. The regime spent around 25 billion dollars but unfortunately Assad got more than 50 billion dollars from the countries supporting his regime."  Miro also said that the regime can still provide around 2 billion dollars to continue the civil war; thus it is impossible to collapse the Assad regime by economic sanctions. Stating that the production has almost stopped in Syria, Miro said that the factories mostly located in suburbs of Damascus and Aleppo have been destructed by the regime bombardments, besides the agricultural and tourism has already stopped. However the Assad regime still survives which shows that it is supported by external powers, added Miro.
