Borussia Dortmund win German Super Cup

BERLIN (AA) - Borussia Dortmund claimed German Super Cup after beating reigning Bundesliga and German Cup winners Bayern Munich 2-0 at Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday night. Armenian attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Gabonese forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang brought to the black and yellows their second Super Cup glory in a row. Borussia Dortmund took the lead in the 23rd minute of the game when Mkhitaryan fired the ball into the net inside the box without trapping it: 1-0. In the 62nd minute, Dortmund's Polish right-back Lukasz Piszcek whipped the ball towards his teammate Aubameyang. Gabonese forward smashed the header decisively: 2-0. After the final whistle, Borussia Dortmund won German Super Cup for the fifth time in their history.
Meanwhile, former Borussia Dortmund forward Robert Lewandowski, who is currently playing for Bayern Munich, played against his ex-club at Signal Iduna Park for the first time.
