Mayor of London and London Assembly elections on Thursday, 2 May

Eligible residents can actively participate in the elections, but they must register beforehand to cast a vote if they have not already done so. This can be done online or through a paper form at GOV.UK. The deadline to apply to register is midnight, Tuesday 16 April. Once registration is complete, residents in Enfield may choose to cast their ballots in person at a polling station, by post or appoint a trusted individual to vote on their behalf through a proxy vote. Voting by post is the easiest way to cast your vote as it does not require a photo ID and can be applied for quickly and simply online at GOV.UK. The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm, Wednesday 17 April. For those opting for an in-person vote at Enfield’s polling stations (including a proxy vote), the new law requires a physical photo ID to be presented. A copy on a mobile phone or tablet device will be rejected. A list of the accepted forms of ID can be found on the Council’s website.  If a valid photo ID cannot be provided, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate. The deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate is 5pm, Wednesday 25 April.

Ian Davis, Chief Executive and Constituency Returning Officer at Enfield Council, said: “We want to encourage all eligible residents in Enfield to register to vote and ensure their voices are heard by casting their ballots.

“The process has never been simpler, with all the resources available online, residents can find any information in an instant. You can find out about your options by visiting our website or by contacting our Electoral Services team. Importantly, if you wish to vote in person, you must have photographic ID – take a look at the requirements sooner rather than later so you don’t miss your opportunity to take part.”  To find out more about how to apply to vote by post, by proxy or regarding the Voter Authority Certificate, contact the Electoral Services team at Enfield Council on 020 3821 1813.
