Enfield Council reaches out to potential foster carers

Many young people have been living in difficult environments and are in need of a stable environment. As a result, foster carers are in higher demand than ever. Enfield Council’s fostering team has produced a blog to celebrate the fortnight with five reasons why fostering is a great vocation and career opportunity.  Foster Care Fortnight takes place across the UK from 10 to 23 May and is The Fostering Network's annual campaign to raise awareness of the transformational power of fostering, that shows how foster care can transform lives.

The theme for the fortnight is #WhyWeCare and was chosen after consultation with foster carers and children from all over the UK who have experienced foster care.

Cllr Rick Jewell, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services at Enfield Council, said: “Foster Care Fortnight is a fantastic opportunity for us to say a big thank you to all foster carers in Enfield who have made a huge difference to the lives of vulnerable children in the borough.

“I would also like to reach out to those who are considering fostering as a vocation to get in touch with us to find out how we can help and support you on your journey to becoming a foster carer. Our expert Fostering Team is here to provide support and advice and will be with you every step of the way.”

Residents who would like to be considered to foster a child must be over the age of 21 and have enough space in their home to accommodate a foster child
.
The Council’s next fostering information session is on Wednesday 19 May from 5pm to 6.30pm. The session is open all residents who are thinking about becoming a foster carer.
