2013 marked the 90th year after the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the birth of the Republic of Turkey. The series ‘Countdown - 100 years of Western Music in Turkey 2013-2024’ endeavours to spotlight Western music & Turkey from both sides: from the classical Western music and the Turkish culture. Mehmet Okonsar - pianist, composer and musicologist of international recognition, will guide us through the history of Western music in Turkey through his lecture and piano performance - Mozart, Liszt and Stravinsky. The evening will be followed by Q&A and an optional champagne reception with Mr Okonsar.
