Kassem Istanbouli of the play MUROS

The people filling La Merced square of Cuenca enjoyed the performance made by Kassem Istanbouli of the play MUROS (Walls), in the night of the Summer Festival of Cuenca. The work, a monodrama in Spanish, speaks in a poetic mode of the walls that humanity has built to defend and define the different identities, and claims the power of human creativity to build bridges that will allow us to break down these walls and live together in peace . The work is a tribute to the figure and work of  Granada artist José Val del Omar  as written by Ana Cendrero Álvarez.

The Lebanese actor and theater director directed a theatre play in Spanish for the first time, another step forward in his theater work for Human Rights, with a long journey through the stages and streets of Lebanon, Syria, Palestine and Spain bringing his works Picnic in the Field, Koum Yaba, Hawamish, People's Court, Zanka Zanka, Mural Experience, The Black House.
