World's most expensive kebab is in London for £925

Hazev restaurant in Canary Wharf, the meal could set you back a whopping £925. On Tuesday Head chef Onder Sahan unveiled the world's most expensive kebab at his London restaurant, and says he will pay over £1000 to anyone that can make one better.

DailyMail-The kebab is many a drunken man's best friend. But late night revellers should be careful not to stray too close to the Hazev restaurant in Canary Wharf, as the meal could set you back a whopping £925. On Tuesday Head chef Onder Sahan unveiled the world's most expensive kebab at his London restaurant, and says he will pay over £1000 to anyone that can make one better.

Onder says: 'I decided to make something unusual. I created that 'Royal Kebab'. 'Yes, I think we do something nice and expensive. We used high quality meat and vegetables and olive oil and nice 25-year-old vinegar.'

The chef does not agree with the status of the kebab as a midnight snack, and created the meal to dispel its reputation as a food to be eaten only by drunk people.

'We try to change the kebab image, and then we show people if you have good taste and then you can make it whatever way you like it,' he says.

He says: 'I hope people will take as an example my kebab and then do it better than me.

'I'm really very very happy if someone do it and I'm very interested. I'm waiting if someone makes it better than this and I'm happy to pay more than 1,000,' adds Onder.

The dish was also made to mark the fourth British Kebab Awards earlier this month.

Onder claimed first prize as the country's best kebab chef.

The restaurant takes its name from the Turkish words 'haz'- meaning 'enjoyment' – and 'ev' – meaning 'home'.

It claims 'in creating 'hazev' we hope to provide our guests with a dining experience infused with the comfort and indulgence associated with both'.
