Anderlecht sign Belgian international Defour

ANKARA (AA) - Belgian champions Anderlecht signed Porto midfielder Steven Defour on Thursday. The Brussels club confirmed a 6 million euro transfer fee for the Belgian international, who has been capped 44 times, on a five-year deal. The 26-year-old midfielder said that he was aware of a possible negative reaction from the fans of his former club Standard Liege, fierce rivals of Anderlecht.
He said: "I'm at ease about this choice and from now on I'm focusing on my new club."
Defour added: "I reckon that Anderlecht should try to win anything and make a good impression in the UEFA Champions League. In particular, I want to say that I will do my best for the club and to help the team win more titles."
Referring to his time at Liege, when he was accused of provocative play against Anderlecht, he remarked: "It was not an easy decision to sign for them [Anderlecht] but I always had respect for the club."
