It was only recently we spoke at a social gathering that he said he was planning to work and help young people and asked for my contribution, too. We previously worked together on a number of occasions and his ambition was to especially help and mentor young people. This memory of his uniqueness will stay with me for very long time into the future.
In migration, it is not very easy to find a path and follow it throughout the time one spends away from the Country of one’s origin. It takes considerable courage, intelligence, emotion and strength to put all their dreams into action, when settling in a different Country. Tayfun Pasa was one of these people who successfully fulfilled his way of thinking through his work and contributed immensely to the lives of others throughout his life in London.
His love for Sport especially football made him one of the important persons within the Turkish Speaking Communities. We can also count his contribution more widely to Sport within the ethnic communities in London.
Professionally as a sports journalist for many years he wrote in prominent newspapers and actively took part as a referee and also helped by taking part in many management roles within Sport Clubs as well as many NGO’s.
The list of Tayfun’s dedication is long and the contribution he made to the Turkish Speaking Community in London has left a valuable mark and the lives of many that much richer and fulfilled. His touch of kindness and inspiration for sport will not be forgotten, and will continue to glow brighter. We have lost a wonderful leader and must build on his legacy of Sport.
Tayfun Pasa was born in Izmir, Turkey in 1947 and died on 3rd of April 2013. He is survived by his wife and two children.
