Overseas students should be removed from migration target

The letter indicates that student visa policy needs to encourage overseas students to study in Britain. The chairs of five parliamentary committees- home affairs, business commute, public accounts select committee, the Lords science and technology committee and Europe Sub-committee- urge "further action to encourage international university students to study in the UK". They indicate: "International students who study in the UK also build relationships which last over time, laying the foundations for future business opportunities in emerging economies, and supporting our foreign policy objectives."

The UK net migration figure has fallen from 248,000 to 183,000 in the last year including restricts on student visas.
