Number of Syrian refugees in Turkey reaches 184,977

The Prime Ministry's Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) announced on Thursday that the country is currently hosting 184,977 Syrian refugees fleeing the almost two-year conflict in war-torn Syria. According to AFAD's figures, the total number of refugee camps in Turkey is 14: This includes five tent cities in Hatay province, three in Gaziantep, two in Şanlıurfa and one each in Kahramanmaraş, Osmaniye, Adana and Adıyaman. There are also three container cities in Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa and the southern province of Kilis. According to the statement, the total number of Syrians who have entered Turkey since the start of the uprising is above 260,000. The statement also said that all the humanitarian needs of the more than 260,000 Syrians who have come to Turkey so far due to the situation in their country had been met, adding that Syrians citizens taking refuge in Turkey have been provided with lodgings, food and security as well as access to social activities, education and religious services and translation and telecommunication services.

Syrian refugees at the camps are provided with three meals a day, the statement added.

There are 14,342 Syrian refugees living in Hatay; 31,980 in Gaziantep; 13,544 in Kilis; 85,296 in Şanlıurfa; 16,739 in Kahramanmaraş; 7,939 in Osmaniye; 10,027 in Adıyaman; and 1,863 in Adana.
