Madrid derby in Spanish Super Cup kicks off

Reigning Spanish La Liga champions Atletico Madrid will meet latest Copa del Rey (Spanish King's Cup) winners Real Madrid on Tuesday night in the Spanish Super Cup final in a rematch of last season's Champions League final. The first leg of the "Madrid derby" to be played on Real's home turf at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will start at 2200GMT.  "We are still in pre-season period. I do not know what team is physically ready," said Real Madrid's Italian head coach Carlo Ancelotti during the pre-match press conference on Monday. "There's no favorite."  Atletico Madrid's Argentine head coach Diego Simeone said, "Real Madrid became much stronger by signing [German national Toni] Kroos, They have a powerful and balanced team." Atletico Madrid's Turkish star Arda Turan will be ineligible for both matches of the final due to previous suspension dating from last season's Super Cup.  Each year, the Spanish Super Cup pits the previous season's league champions against the cup winners. The two teams recently met in the 2014 UEFA Champions League final played in Lisbon, Portugal on May 24. Real Madrid won 4-1 in extra time.
