Fenerbahce appoint Kartal as new head coach

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish champions Fenerbahce have appointed Ismail Kartal as their new head coach following the resignation of Ersun Yanal. In a signing ceremony on Tuesday at the club’s Sukru Saracoglu stadium, Kartal said: "I have been carrying out my job as a coach for 18 to 19 years. I managed seven different teams as a head coach and in Fenerbahce we have achieved great successes with Aykut Kocaman and Ersun Yanal last season. I accepted this job to make Fenerbahce win even greater success."
Kartal has served with Fenerbahce for four years as assistant coach.
Yanal quit his post on Saturday amid media reports of disagreements with club chairman Aziz Yildirim.
