English Premier League Week 1 results

First matchday in 2014-15 English Premier League ended on Monday night. Chelsea defeated Burnley 3-1 in an away match on Monday. The London team's new signing from Atletico Madrid, Spanish forward Diego Costa scored as well as German forward Andre Schurrle and Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic. Burnley's single goal was scored by Scottish midfielder Scott Arfield.
Reigning English Premier League winners Manchester City toppled Newcastle United 2-0 at St James' Park on Sunday, thanks to goals scored by Spanish attacking midfielder David Silva and Argentine forward Sergio Aguero.
Meanwhile, Arsenal barely won against Crystal Palace 2-1 at Emirates Stadium thanks to a last-minute goal by Welsh central midfielder Aaron Ramsey in stoppage time. French defender Laurent Koscielny also scored for Arsenal. Crystal Palace's only goal was scored by Brede Hangeland.
Manchester United were humiliated by Swansea City 2-1 on their home turf at Old Trafford in the opening match of the season on Saturday.
Swansea took the lead after a goal by South Korean midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng. Striker Wayne Rooney managed to tie the game early in the second half but this proved insufficient as Swansea's Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson scored the winning goal at the 72nd minute.
