Didier Yves Drogba Tébily was born in 1978 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Drogba began his football career at the Levallois football club in France when he was eighteen. The year after he was signed by Le Mans of Ligue 2 where he signed his first professional contract three years later.
In the second half of the 2001-2002 season, Drogba was transferred to Guingamp of Ligue 1 in France. In 2003 he was signed by Marseille. Then in 2004 he joined Chelsea where he played until 2012 after which he signed with the Chinese Shanghai Shenhua.
Drogba first became a member of the Ivorian national team in 2002.
Throughout his career Drogba has won many awards both as a team member and individually.
