PSG Defend Champions League Crown on Penalties

PSG retained the UEFA Champions League title by beating Arsenal 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the final at Puskas Arena.

Paris Saint-Germain successfully defended their UEFA Champions League title on Saturday, edging Arsenal 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in the final at Puskas Arena.

Arsenal struck first when Kai Havertz found the net in the sixth minute. PSG responded in the second half through Ousmane Dembele, who converted a penalty in the 65th minute after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was fouled inside the box.

The French champions pushed for a winner late in regulation, with Kvaratskhelia hitting the post and Vitinha narrowly missing the target. Arsenal also survived a late scare when Bradley Barcola squandered a clear opportunity in stoppage time.

Neither side could find a breakthrough in extra time, sending the final to penalties.

Goncalo Ramos and Desire Doue scored PSG’s opening spot kicks, while Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze missed his attempt. Although David Raya saved Nuno Mendes’ penalty, Achraf Hakimi and Lucas Beraldo converted to keep PSG in control.

After Gabriel Martinelli leveled the shootout at 3-3, Beraldo calmly scored PSG’s fifth penalty. Arsenal defender Gabriel then missed the decisive kick, firing over the crossbar and handing PSG a successful title defense.
