A survey conducted by Turkistan newspaper and Common Values non-governmental organization in Azerbaijan selected Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan the politician of 2012. The survey was participated by 37,525 people. The survey was held between November 2012 and February 17, 2013. Majority of the participants replied "Recep Tayyip Erdogan" when they were asked who the politician of the year in Turkic world was. Erdogan was followed by former Kyrgyz president Roza Otunbayeva.
