The European Union (EU) on Friday said the use of chemical weapons in Syria was unacceptable. Michael Mann, the spokesperson for EU High Representative Catherine Ashton, said that "no matter how they may have been used, the use of any chemical weapons is absolutely unacceptable". "The EU with its international partners follows up on the allegations of use of chemical weapons in Syria. We hope that a UN delegation would travel to Syria to study the allegations on chemical weapons," Mann underlined.
"It is seen that the Syrian regime does not respect human rights much. However, we cannot make judgments unless we have definite information," Mann stressed.
In a previous statement, US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel had argued that American intelligence reached a conclusion that the Syrian regime used chemical weapons during the two year old clashes.
