U.S. citizen Sarai Sierra may have been killed by a group of two or three people, according to the Istanbul police, who reached this conclusion following inspections conducted in the murder area. Officials said a group may have helped the murderer carry Sierra’s body to the ancient city walls. The number one suspect, Ziya T., is still being searched for across Turkey, along with eight other individuals. Ziya T., also know as “Laz Ziya,” who earns his living collecting and selling used papers, reportedly left Istanbul soon after Sierra’s body was found by police on Feb. 2. Blood samples from the suspect’s family members were sent to the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute for tests, in order to see if there is a potential match with the blood found on Sierra’s clothes. New Yorker Sierra was murdered while on a solo trip to Turkey. Her body was found near Istanbul’s ancient city walls in the Sarayburnu district, leaving a cloud of mystery over who the assailant or assailants were.
