The 5th Nazim Hikmet Film Festival in North Carolina started on Monday to bring poets from US and different parts in the world together. As a part of the festival, a "Translation Project" was launched with the aim to translate more works of Turkish poets into English. This year's guest poets were the US poet Katherine Stripling Byer and Palestinian-American translator and poet Fady Joudah. Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish was commemorated in this year's festival, where Joudah, who translated Darwish poets to English, spoke about Darwish works.
272 poets, with 900 works take part at this year’s festival.
