A fortunate confluence of circumstances allows us to offer these superb tiles at prices which have provoked shrieks of glee from architects, interior designers, property developers and retailers. Sterling is currently strong against the Turkish lira, our furnace is modern and efficient and our design atelier and workshop have evolved a nimble, cost-conscious method to turn around orders. High-quality printed tiles are £30 per sq. m., cement tiles starts from £40 and we're happy to quote a price on special commissions Says Damla Turgut, co-founder of Otto and added: "I will be visiting Britain frequently to introduce Otto. As I studied law at University of London, I feel quite at home here. Reaction so far has been very positive. The trade can't believe that we can offer such quality at these prices. Tiles I've seen, of comparable quality, start at twice our price. We are looking for a showroom, but, in the meantime, we can call on prospective customers to show samples of these truly remarkable tiles. Transport can be arranged quickly to your door and is not expensive. I really believe that Istanbul has a unique sensibility. We are of the east and of the west, ancient and modern, and I think that Otto has found a way to synthetize strands and traditions to delight every eye."
Quality to match the finest at prices that none can match!
Harem - any design or artwork on tiles of any size. Imagine Botticelli on your bathroom wall, Kandinsky in the kitchen, Hals in the hall
THREE TILE TYPES:
1) Topkapi Palace: ceramic tiles in the rich Iznik tradition, printed or bespoke hand-painted.
2) Handmade Otto cement tiles with traditional, art deco, geometric and modern patterns - hand-painted.
3) Harem - any design or artwork on tiles of any size. Imagine Botticelli on your bathroom wall, Kandinsky in the kitchen, Hals in the hall. We have created Turkish bath scenes to give an air of luxuriant sensuality, Dutch culinary still lifes to whet the appetite in dining rooms, classic cars to evoke the roaring twenties and surrealism to suggest a life less ordinary.
Created from stone granules, Portland cement, fine sand and natural pigments; a hand-made mould is used to separate the colours, which permeate the upper layer. Although this traditional artisanal process is worked by skilled hands, it is efficient and flexible and responsive to the particular requirements of our clients. Even for quite modest orders, we can work to cost-conscious clients' designs and colours. We take particular pleasure in collaborating on projects.
Grinding: comparable cement tiles on sale in the UK have not been ground. This is not a problem for the showroom but once in place those floor/wall tiles will absorb dust and stains. Wall tiles should be ground, as they are otherwise pointlessly thick. Otto offers 8 levels of grinding to suit your particular requirements. We make tiles to look great from the outset, which will never wear away because the depth and durability of our colour layer will withstand decades of feet. Cement tiles laid down in heavy-use settings a hundred years ago - in schools, hotels, pubs - may show a slight depression here and there, but the colours retain a mellowed vibrancy. To clean Otto tiles - if you've applied Otto sealing - simply use soapy water.
