Last year's exhibition hosted 136,730 visitors, making it the fifth largest tourism fair in the world and this forthcoming event is expected to be just as popular. With more than 4500 exhibitors from over 70 countries last year, this exhibition will cover 65,000 square metres in 12 halls at Istanbul's TUYAP Buyukcekmece Exhibition Centre. Exhibitors will include travel agencies, tourism boards, tourism foundations, hotels, cruise liners and those specialising in business & incentive, health and eco-tourism and more. Turkey itself also has a healthy outgoing travel market with 12 million people having the same income level as the average European, 3.4 million of whom earn over £26,300 a year or more. Of those Turks travelling most prefer cultural and shopping tours, spending an average of £600 a week, more than the average for European travelers. There are 3.5 million small and medium enterprise businesses active in the production and service markets in Turkey and whose management travel on business a minimum of four times a year. The 19th EMITT is organised by the EKIN–TYD partnership and is supported by Turkey's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, TOBB, six chambers and 36 regional associations and foundations.
