Enfield North hits the jackpot in lottery funding for community outreach

POLITICS

Two of the projects, 'Border Crossings' and the 'Community Integration Group', aimed to bring people in Enfield together with educational workshops and outreach to different cultural communities. The 'Positive Runway' group planned to raise awareness of HIV/AIDs among black African people, while the 'Agenda for African Social Integration' promoted the tackling of child sexual exploitation in African communities. Keys Meadow Primary School also won funding for a festival and new pupil-made sculpture to inspire local children.

This year Big Lottery Fund marked ten years of helping communities to flourish. Over the past decade they have awarded close to £6 billion to projects large and small across the UK. At the core of their funding is the passion and commitment of charities and community groups to make a real difference to communities and people most in need.

Nick said, "I'm very pleased that groups in Enfield have been on the money with the latest round of Big Lottery Fund grants.

Things like empowering local children and bringing different communities together are so important to Enfield. Congratulations to all the projects which won the funding!"
