Turkey is the guest country in this year's Trento Film Festival, whose 61st edition got under way on Thursday in Italy's northern Trentino province. Trento, a festival focusing on the themes of nature, adventure and exploration, is presenting a series of film screenings, exhibitions and question-and-answer sessions focusing on the promotion of Turkey as part of its Destinazione (Destination) section in its 61st edition, running from April 25 to May 5, Turkish press reported on Wednesday. The Istanbul-based experimental band Baba Zula was set to play a concert on Thursday evening at the Auditorium Santa Chiara as part of the festival's opening events. Twelve Turkish films will be screened as part of Destinazione, including Pelin Esmer's critically acclaimed drama "Gozetleme Kulesi" (Watchtower), Emin Alper's multiple-award winning Western style drama "Tepenin Ardi" (Beyond the Hill) and Turkish-German director Fatih Akin's documentary "Cennetteki Copluk" (Polluting Paradise).

Photographer Stefano Ferracci's exhibition "İSTODAY," displaying photographs of İstanbul, and another exhibition by Luca Chiste, featuring photographs of Turkey's Cappadocia region, will run throughout the festival.
