China rejects military intervention to Syria

Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on Saturday said that clashes in Syria continued for two years and that a military intervention would be ineffective in solving the Syrian issue.  Speaking to reporters in Beijing, Jiechi underlined that the only way to solve the Syrian crisis was through talks and dialogue. "China is on the side of peace and stability and interests of the Syrian people," Jiechi said. "We are ready to support a solution plan on which all sides in the region agree on," Jiechi said. Touching on a crisis with Japan on several islands, Jiechi underlined that Japan violated China's sovereignty. The US must respect China's concerns in the region, Jiechi also said.
