97% get their secondary school choice

First preferences at 74.8% this year are over 5% up on the 69.21% figure for all London.

Overall 93.4% of first, second and third choices in Enfield have been met. This is a big improvement on the 2013 figure of 91% and compares favourably with a 90% figure for all London this year.

Along with all partners Enfield Council worked hard to ensure parents in Enfield were sent their information on National Offer Day, 3rd March, 2014.

Cllr Ayfer Orhan, Cabinet Member for Schools and Young People, said, “There is a place for every child transferring from primary to secondary schools in Enfield this year and I am delighted that we have been able to satisfy most school preferences.

“This is down to good planning – and although we cannot meet every wish we are moving in the right direction – above the London average for preferences.

“All London authorities, together with Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Surrey and Thurrock exchanged information about applications to each other’s schools and worked together to reduce the number of children receiving multiple offers.

“Enfield’s admissions team dealt with 3,860 applications that were received on time and 3,757 children have been offered one of their preferred schools.

“Where it was not possible to offer a place at one of the preferred schools, the council has still been able to make an offer of a school in the borough.”
