Vision247 unveils SuperVision™ to enhance streamed broadcasts

Pinpoint detection and response to video and audio issues in streamed broadcasts

Operators can optimise service provision and maintenance

Monitoring across network and multiple protocol support

Broadcast specialist Vision247 announces SuperVision™, an advanced professional broadcast monitoring application for multi-channel streamed television services. SuperVision provides broadcasters with an accurate, easy to configure and cost effective solution for monitoring an unlimited number of live streamed channels delivered over the internet and/or private fibre to a range of end-user devices.

Streamed transmissions can suffer from black and freezed frame, high and low audio levels, and in the worst case stream failure. Some of these, such as dropped frames will clear without intervention, but service providers are often not aware of this issue until the customer complains. SuperVision is designed to provide immediate detection of these problems in the stream with visual, audio or email notification if a resolution is required.

SuperVision offers a highly configurable monitoring gallery. Service providers can define levels for detecting black and freeze frames, and acceptable high or low audio detection levels. This enables them to optimise service provision versus stream maintenance. By inputting full signal path details, SuperVision can locate a problem’s origin with pinpoint accuracy.

SuperVision’s response can be fully customised, or pre-set templates can be applied to each stream, including the capability to draw data from Vision247’s XtremeCDN database should a stream fail.

John Mills, CEO of Vision247, said: “The challenge when streaming broadcasts is countering fluctuations in viewing quality, service interruption and broken streams. SuperVision represents a new opportunity for enhanced internet delivered broadcast. In an increasingly competitive market, being able to present a constant, professional level of transmission is critical for audience development.”

Streams are monitored by SuperVision on all individual servers across the network, on edge, origins, encoders, the reception of contribution feeds that are intended for re-broadcasting (via IRDs) and on the source itself.

SuperVision supports streams delivered through a range of popular professional broadcast protocols, including: MPEG-2 Transport Stream; Adobe Flash (RTMP); QuickTime and iOS (HTTP Live Streaming - HLS); real time streaming protocol (RTSP); and pseudo streaming (HTTP Progressive Download).
