Last week to Save Our Southgate

David Burrowes MP visited the proposed boundaries of the new constituency of Finchley and Southgate which is dominated by the A406:

It is the last week to respond to the Boundary Commission consultation which closes on December 5th. It proposes the abolition of Enfield Southgate whose wards would be split 5 ways between neighbouring constituencies and a new Finchley and Southgate seat.

David Burrowes MP visited the proposed boundaries of the new constituency of Finchley and Southgate which is dominated by the A406. He said

"This morning I visited the proposed new constituency of Finchley and Southgate and inevitably went along the A406. Usually transport links bring communities together but this stretch of the A406 is all about commuting through this part of North London. The A406 does not provide any genuine community connection justifying linking Finchley and Southgate. It is contrary to the criteria set down by Parliament justifying boundary changes. In the remaining week we need to tell the Boundary Commission that Finchley and Southgate does not work! There is a better alternative of Finchley and Muswell Hill wards which has natural community links and keeps the cohesive constituency of Enfield Southgate together."
