'No Country in the World is a safe haven for FETO'

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a press conference at İstanbul Atatürk Airport before departing for USA. Following are highlights from Erdoğan’s remarks:

"Turkey is healing the wounds of the bloody coup attempt of July 15 on the one hand and continuing its fight against the terrorist organizations originating from Syria under the Operation Euphrates Shield on the other hand. We are also conducting successful operations against murderous networks like FETO, DAESH and PKK within our borders."

“Turkey’s Fight against Terror will Acquire New Dimensions”

"Our fight against terror and terrorist organizations will continue by acquiring new dimensions in the forthcoming period. The coup attempt of July 15 and the epic resistance of our nation against this treachery have turned eyes to Turkey once again."

"My address to the General Assembly will be a means for telling the world the truth about both the coup attempt of July 15 and FETO. We will continue to reveal the dark face of FETO and its ringleader on every platform, and to warn our friends about the threat this terrorist organization is posing to Turkey as well as other countries. I would like to state clearly that no country or region in the world is or will be a safe haven for FETO and its militants anymore."

“Syrian Issue Does not Only Concern Syrians or Neighbouring Countries”

"I believe the whole world has understood or will understand that the Syrian crisis does not only concern the Syrians or neighbouring countries, but has become a global issue as a result of its implications. Every second lost for resolving the Syrian crisis on the basis of legitimacy and justice is dishonour for the United Nations. It is not possible to resolve this problem by exposing refugees to inhumane treatment and hiding behind wire fences. Whole humanity, particularly developed countries, should become aware of their responsibility regarding this issue."

"Countries attending the summit will determine the steps and make commitments in line with these goals. Hosting the highest number of refugees in the world, our country was especially invited to this summit. In my address during the summit, I will elaborate on the heavy responsibility shouldered by Turkey since the beginning of the Syrian crisis. I will reiterate the need for a safe zone and a terror-free zone for the solution of the problem. I will also share with world leaders the contribution of the Operation Euphrates Shield to alleviating the refugee crisis."

"We Said We Would Never Allow a Terror Corridor"

“We stated repeatedly that we would never allow a terror corridor in northern Syria.”

“Tel Abyad region is actually an Arab settlement. The control of the region initially passed to DAESH as a result of operations, and DAESH later left the region to PYD, YPG. Their goal is to unite with elements in Afrin and open a corridor to the Mediterranean. We had been patient until the attack in Gaziantep, after which we said enough is enough. We told it to all of our friends."

“We also made it clear that there was no room for PYD, YPG in the Manbij operation; since 95 percent of the region belongs to Arabs...”
