Muslim Aid condemns death of British aid worker

Expressing his shock and grief at the tragic incident, the Chairman of Muslim Aid, Sir Iqbal Sacranie said: “We are shocked to learn that a committed aid worker with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Pakistan was callously murdered by his abductors after three months in captivity, despite his dedicated humanitarian services to the people of Pakistan.”

“Dr Khalil Dale was a former employee of Muslim Aid and his death has been greatly felt by all of us. We call upon the authorities to apprehend Dr Khalil Dale’s murderers and bring them to justice. We also call upon the international community to safeguard and protect aid workers who are putting their lives at risk in various parts of the world to serve the vulnerable and needy people regardless of race, religion, gender, ethnic origin and political persuasion.”

“The contribution of humanitarian workers is central to helping people in conflict situations and in alleviating poverty. Muslim Aid joins the international humanitarian community in strongly condemning this gruesome act”, added the Chairman.
