Turkish Kitten runs away to Kent

 This story is so cute and has been getting quite a bit of news coverage. As I’m a cat lover and this story is Turkish related, I thought this is a story to write about. 

Basically, the story goes that a lorry, owned by Turkish company Ekol, took off from Ankara, the Turkish capital, and arrived in Dartford, Kent, and on offloading a tabby kitten was found. That is 2,000 miles of travelling – that really puts the journey into perspective. Although just hearing Turkey to the UK is astonishing in itself. The journey was nine days – how on earth did this cute kitten survive on this lorry in discomfort and without food? This all took place this summerby the way.

To make this story sound cuter, I’ll let you know that thekitten is only six weeks old. The kitten has been named Yonda. The company, that can take the glory for findingYonda and I’m guessing for naming her too, are called Davies Turner. They are a logistics company, and found Yonda when offloading the truck. There was also another cat found whenoffloading but sadly he or she died. How the cats got on the lorry and what they were up to, nobody will know for sure. I feel like there should be a movie about this!  

Although this news has been getting some news coverage, I have not read anything yet about the 

kitten being reunited with her owners. There must be some owners out there desperately trying to retrieve their kitten. Here is hoping that this article will reach out to the owners and the Turkish community to take action. At the moment, the kitten is spending time in quarantine, at the Animal Inn close to Kent, where she’ll spend six months. A charity, Cats Protection, is seeking funds for Yonda to be in quarantine and to be looked after whilst a new home is found for her.
