Loving London Life

Me being just a small town girl, I cannot deny that even after living most of my life in London I am still in awe of it. The constant activity and the endless possibilities quite possibly make it the most happening city in the world.

Regardless of the rain which everyone seems to be moaning about, it has been a fantastic run up to the summer. In every direction you turn and whatever entertains you there is a place for it. A question that I often hear is 'are you not tired of being out every night?' No not really, entertainment isn’t drinking till all hours of the morning. It can be found in many shapes and forms. Last week was a typical week in London;

It’s Monday evening and not a lot could perhaps cheer up this miserable day of the week; until my friend produces two cinema tickets to the musical Rock Of ages. After spending 1.5 hours in the cinema that felt like a blink of an eye watching a film during which for the most part I was either beating my feet to the rhythm or fighting to urge to stand up and break into a song...mainly my friend holding me down rather than my awful voice that was stopping me from doing so. I left the cinema exhilarated and reminded of how it felt to be a teenager and having fun. Tuesday drags more than any other day I guess but not in our life. Once again she produced two tickets to the play The Sunshine Boys...Simply being in the West End and walking along the pier in the evening along with everyone else who were enjoying the delight that is London was fun. The drinks before the theatre and the buskers singing on the streets were actually more fun than the play itself. But spending time in good company is never boring, no matter how hard Danny de Vito and his allegedly famous play partner tried. After spending two hours watching a very depressing play that was meant to be a comedy; the funniest part was the look on my friends face and the helpless yelp of ‘nooo surely its over’ she yelled out when she thought for a moment that the play had not ended! On Wednesday after spending the first half of the week out till all hours and working solidly during the day we went to have a quiet drink at our regular hang out. Thursday followed on from this. On Friday at work I went up to the fourth floor with some finance related query but being the person that attracts and draws the party on as I walked out of the lift someone handed me a couple of beers and ushered me into a room with a party, after hanging out for a while I went to collect Melike of course and so we spent the evening being part of a live DJ show audience, drinking beers and dancing along. Then a few beers and a smoke on the rooftop later we went onto watch the England game at the pub. these strangers who were also watching the game were quickly becoming friends as England scored more and more(well; 2) and in the excitement and the despair of the ensuing game we made a bunch of friends. It was a relief that England won; the feeling of being among people who are all happy and without worries is exhilarating. This is probably why there is such a big socialising scene here in London. As much of a cliché that it may be the fact is that we work hard, harder than a lot of other countries and so in return we party harder. On a Friday as the end of the day claws I think that the sacred day that is Friday should be celebrated with a pint...or two or perhaps a few. The weekend must be welcomed in the proper manner; with cheer and without worries, even if only until Monday.
