Move from one dreamlike world to the next at our magical Midsummer Night's Fête

In the courtyard, The Vintage Mafia will roll out the greens and unveil a village fête from a bygone era. With a free cocktail in hand (thanks Fever-Tree!), experience the The Candid Jug Orange Band, stalls, Mr Smith's Letterpress workshop and a takeaway van manned by a crack team of poets who will write, perform and hand deliver to you your very own verse.  Then step inside the galleries, where The Gabby Young Trio will perform their unique mix of jazz and raggle taggle folk, or as they like to call it, 'circus swing' in the incredible surroundings of 1,000 works of art from the Summer Exhibition. Walk through Lora Avedian's oversized flower installations, see yarn bombing by Whodunnknit, play a round of artist bingo with a chance to win prizes including Young Friends membership, and experience art brought to life with roaming performances curated by Frog Morris with Calum F Kerr, Daniel Lehan and Joanna McCormick. In our 19th century Life Drawing Room, the world of A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be transformed into scenes for you to draw. Art Macabre will be hosting this ‘death drawing’ salon to open your eyes to the subversive side of life drawing, join in and flex your own creative muscles.  Round off your night with a trip to the normally hidden Victorian vaults of the Academy and lose yourself in our DJs’ selection at our silent disco. Or relax in the Keeper’s House where sounds, drinks and bar snacks will be available until midnight.  Come and see how we’ve brought the history and tradition of a 246 year old institution right into 2014, to create an unforgettable night.  *£25 includes access to all activities, one free drink from premium mixer drinks company Fever-Tree and entry to Summer Exhibition (proudly sponsored by Insight Investment).
